The Medical Industrial Complex

I’ve been holding off on seeing an MD about my hip. I’m tired of ” Get an MRI and do 8 weeks of Physical Therapy” which is what they always say.

No offense to the nice docs, but I’m not all that thrilled with the results of my shoulder surgery. Pretty sure it did not improve anything, and it took me out for 4-5 months.

Not to mention, and “new diagnosis or new patient” appointment usually takes at least 6 to 8 weeks to book. That said, I finally called the clinic today. I asked for my previous doc (not the surgeon) and was informed, “with hip/groin issues she only sees 1 patient per day which means long lead times for appointments [sorry folks, but my internal voice was saying, “oh fuck me!”], however we have a physiatrist who specializes in that area.”

Oh nice, new diagnosis AND new patient. This should be an appointment sometime in December…

“She has an opening tomorrow at 1pm if you can make it.”

Yes, hell yes. While I doubt she can help it’s not like things are getting any better with chiro or massage or rest. Lower right leg is now going numb, losing strength at inopportune moments – not to mention, I’m tired of hurting.

Sometimes I really wonder if my body just ain’t built right.

Oh, I’ll be back at it again. Fingers are crossed that this doc will have some decent advice
